Why enter?
Our Maths Competitions are all about helping pupils discover a fun, confidence‑boosting side of maths. The papers are partly curriculum‑linked but designed to be enjoyable, accessible, educational and suitable for all abilities.
What makes it exciting is the journey every pupil can take:
-
Start at County level
-
Progress to the Regional Competition
-
And enjoy the chance to reach our National Competition
Every stage is achievable, encouraging, and designed to help pupils feel proud of their progress.
We are happy to offer some clarity around how our pricing structure works as pupils progress through the different levels of the competition.
(Traditionally, entry fees increase at each stage. This is simply because fewer candidates pass through to the higher levels, while the workload for our team remains the same. Despite this, we always aim to keep our prices as low as possible while still being able to run the competitions sustainably as a business.
Supporting pupils from all backgrounds is a core part of our ethos. Next year, we plan to offer schools a set number of free competition entries specifically for families who simply may not have extra‑curricular funds. Even this year, we have already discussed and promoted free 2027 places with teachers who have let us know that they will definitely have certain sets of parents that are unable to pay. This may be down to schools being situated within deprived areas and for a whole host of varying reasons.
We hope this helps explain our approach more clearly and reassures you of our commitment to accessibility and fairness.
